National Toys for Tots program available to Lincoln County residents

A nationally-recognized program that helps underserved children during each Christmas season is now in Lincoln County and wants residents to help “all children receive a little Christmas.”

The Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program has been in operation for 74 years, providing happiness and hope to less fortunate children, age newborn to 17. Toys, books and other gifts collected are distributed by Marines and volunteers to offer children recognition, confidence and a lifelong positive memory.

“We believe it is such experiences that help disadvantaged children become responsible citizens and caring members of their community,” said Local Area Coordinator Deonka Boozier-Mazie. The area office, located in Hazlehurst, serves Lincoln, Lawrence, Copiah, Simpson and Yazoo counties.
