Norfield was incorporated as a sawmill town in 1894 and was once the second-largest town in the county, according to LCHGS member and historian Joe Brown. The town was named for the owners of the sawmill, John Spencer Butterfield and Fred W. Norwood. Two direct descendants of Butterfield — sisters Elizabeth Jones and Dr. Jennifer Jones Wright — were on hand to unveil the maker. Gov. Tate Reeves signed a resolution declaring Oct. 16, the day of the unveiling, as Norfield Day. Brown secured the creation and installation of the marker. From left, Sen.
