Nurse Elizabeth “Lisa” Shann has been recognized by King’s Daughters Medical Center as a “Healthcare Hero.”

Shann serves as management services organization clinical coordinator at KDMC. The registered nurse, who holds a biology degree and a bachelor of science degree in nursing, has worked as a nurse since 1999 in pediatric emergency rooms in both staff and management positions.

She is committed to serving her community through civic organizations and spending time with her sons, Tyler and Parker.

Shann spearheaded KDMC’s efforts for COVID-19 mobile testing. When KDMC made the decision to create a mobile testing site, Shann was integral in coordinating efforts to establish and get the site running within 24 hours.

“This was truly a remarkable accomplishment and marquee event in KDMC’s efforts to combat COVID-19 in the Brookhaven community,” said KDMC Director of Marketing David Culpepper.

Shann and her team tested 14,583 patients at the mobile site across 348 days, March 23, 2020, through March 25, 2021. All safety measures required by the Mississippi State Department of Health were followed and adhered to in order to provide the most accurate test results. The KDMC mobile testing site was the only one at that time in Lincoln County.

Shann continues to be involved in COVID testing in KDMC’s primary care clinics and pediatric clinic. She has also played a key role in the medical center’s vaccination program and is the lead for KDMC in deploying vaccines to clinics.
