“We controlled the game from start to finish,” said Lea. “These girls have been working extremely hard and we’re seeing the results of that on the field. If they keep working like they have been, they can achieve great things this season.”

The Loyd Star boys are now 2-4 on the year. Eighth grader Cooper Creel scored three goals for the Hornets in the win. Senior Peyton Warren added two goals and Zac Reid added one goal as well.

Cooper Reid, Alex Gonzalez, Bryan Gonzalez and Carter Holcolmb all had an assist each for Lea.

“We’ve taken our bumps and bruises early this season and it’s beginning to pay off for us,” said Lea. “These boys haven’t quit and they work everyday to get better. We were able to play a complete game all across the board and that’s why we were able to get the win.”

Loyd Star plays at McLaurin Thursday.
