Shooting suspect in custody

A suspect wanted in connected to a shooting on North Jackson Street is in custody.

Micah Satin Vanburen, 17, surrendered to police in Brookhaven at 4 p.m. Monday.

Vanburen, of 427 East Cherokee St., was sought by law enforcement and considered armed and potentially dangerous after an aggravated assault Friday, Nov. 19.

“He’s wanted in connection with a fight that occurred,” Brookhaven Police Department Chief Kenneth Collins said at the time. “They’re intent on causing trouble and I’m intent on locking them up.”

Collins said Vanburen has been processed into the Lincoln County Jail where he is being held on a $5,000 bond. He has been charged with aggravated assault and use of a deadly weapon.
