Three COVID-positive patients were hospitalized this week at King’s Daughters Medical Center. All three were not vaccinated. One was admitted to the intensive care unit and placed on a ventilator.

The hospital was at more than 150 percent of its pre-pandemic hospitalizations as of Tuesday — 33 patients compared to 20 prior. Of the 76 patients seen in the emergency room in the previous 24 hours, nearly one-third were COVID-related.

KDMC has administered 55 monoclonal antibodies month-to-date, compared to 40 over the course of November.

As of Thursday morning, Lincoln County had reported 5,615 total cases of the coronavirus — three new since Tuesday.

The county has also recorded 136 deaths, though that number has not increased in since the end of October. Eighty new cases have been reported so far in December.

The Mississippi State Department of Health reported 873 new positive cases Thursday and six deaths, elevating the state’s totals to 525,502 cases and 10,393 related fatalities.

The counties bordering Lincoln County have reported the following to-date:

• Amite County — 2,135 cases (six new); 58 deaths

• Copiah — 4,691 cases (three new); 95 deaths

• Franklin — 1,286 cases (one new); 32 deaths

• Jefferson — 980 cases (one new); 34 deaths

• Lawrence — 2,245 cases (two new); 43 deaths

• Pike — 6,015 cases (five new); 158 deaths

• Walthall — 2,242 cases (four new); 66 deaths

Mississippi’s most populated counties are DeSoto, Harrison, Hinds, Jackson and Rankin counties, each of which has reported more than 20,000 cases.

• Jackson — 25,110

• Rankin — 23,104

The counties with more than 500 reported COVID-19 deaths each are Harrison, 565; and Hinds, 652.

Issaquena County remains the area with the least number of reported cases and deaths — 195 and seven, respectively. It is also the county with the lowest population — 1,338 residents.
