Severe weather likely today

Lincoln County residents have a marginal to slight risk of severe weather Wednesday from noon until midnight as storms move through the area.

Though the lowest rungs on the ladder of risk from marginal to high — marginal, slight, enhanced, moderate, high — a marginal to slight risk includes possible severe storms, damaging winds up to 60 mph, hail up to quarter size and possible tornadoes.

The greatest risk comes to residents of the northern portions of Mississippi and Alabama, and parts of Tennesee.

“A few tornadic supercells are possible, along with sporadic damaging gusts and isolated severe hail,” the Storm Prediction Center published in its Wednesday storm outlook.

Hail risks extend into parts of Louisiana, Arkansas, Georgia and the Carolinas.
