In an effort to keep as many people as safe as possible during the newest COVID-19 variant infections, King’s Daughters Medical Center has instigated new visitation policies.

There will be no visitation for patients who require isolation, all visitors must be at least 18 years of age, a visitor must stay in room with patient at all times and if the patient leaves the room for procedure, the visitor must stay in the room.

No visitors are allowed in ICU without a doctor’s order, the KDMC website stated. No visitors will be allowed in the medical unit, emergency room, outpatient testing, the KDMC clinics (unless a parent) or the surgical until without a doctor’s order.

There will be a maximum of two visitors allowed daily in labor and delivery, and only one is allowed with a patient at a time. Only one visitor is allowed before and after outpatient surgery and the visitor must stay in the patient’s room while the patient is in surgery.

No visitor will be allowed in outpatient testing unless required for patient assistance (physically or mentally incapacitated). This includes radiology, lab, pain, vein and echo testing.

All pediatric patients may have two adult visitors in any area of the hospital or clinics, but both must be parents, guardians or caregivers. The caregiver will be allowed overnight stays.

If the patient is physically or mentally incapacitated, one adult caregiver may accompany the patient for the duration of the visit.

In an end-of-life situation, visitors may be approved by a physician or NP, who might authorize visitors under 18.

Exceptions must be documented in the patient record and communicated to the door monitoring personnel. When a physician or NP approves an exception, the visitor must be an adult.

All visitors and patients must wear a mask or face covering at all times and will have temperature and symptom assessments. Any visitor with fever or respiratory symptoms will not be allowed to enter any facility. Any visitor under home isolation orders or awaiting a COVID-19 test result will not be allowed entry.

Approved visitors will have a pass provided by the door monitors. Any visitor allowed in the hospital or clinic must remain in the room with the patient at all times. Any visitor who does not follow the guidelines will be escorted out of the building.

There will be no visitors allowed in the clinic waiting areas except as noted for pediatric patients or incapacitated adults needing caregiver assistance.
