COVID-19 update: Cases continue to climb

Eighty new positive cases of coronavirus COVID-19 were reported in Lincoln County Friday, reflecting numbers reported as of 3 p.m. Thursday, bringing the county’s case load to 6,484.
Lincoln County’s related pandemic death toll remains at 139.
The Mississippi State Department of Health reported 9,300 new cases Friday and 19 additional deaths. The state has now recorded 634,628 cases and 10,625 fatalities. Each day’s results are posted the following day at msdh.ms.gov, with the exception of weekends, which report Friday-Sunday totals weekly on Mondays.
Issaquena County remains the locality with the least cases and deaths from the coronavirus — 202 and seven, respectively, though these numbers have slowly increased recently.
DeSoto County has now reported 41,451 cases (1,457 new) and 463 deaths (three newly reported). Harrison has reported 41,378 cases (678 new) and 574 deaths (two new). Hinds County, the state’s most populous county, has reported 44,333 cases (438 new) and 665 deaths.
