Mr. Jewel Decatur McManus, 93, went to be with his Lord on February 23, 2022. He was born September 25, 1928, to Decatur McManus and Leona Smith McManus Ratcliff. Jewel lost his father at a very young age and started working as a child. He later earned a GED and attended Whitworth for a while.

He was drafted into the Army after working as a logger. He was a Korean War Veteran and loved his Red Shirt friends. He retired from the Post Office in 1986 after twenty-eight years. He grew up playing the guitar and the fiddle. Jewel enjoyed the Colorado mountains, photography and NFL football. He especially loved his wife and his grandchildren and his Lord Jesus. He was a member of Gum Grove Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his wife of 65 years, Betty Posey McManus; daughter, Brenda K. Castilaw and brother, Sherrod Ratcliff.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Jeanna M. Hartzog; sister, Carolyn R. McGehee and husband, Dennis; granddaughter, Sarah Hartzog of Houston, Texas; grandson, Hugh Hartzog and wife Emily, of North Mankato, MN, and their expected child, his first great grandchild, and sons-in-law, Greg Hartzog and Ronnie Castilaw.
