COVID cases continue to decline

The number of new COVID-19 cases reported to the State continue to grow fewer. Hospitalizations also continue a slight downward trend.

In the seven-day period of March 8-14, 1,137 new COVID-19 cases were reported to the Mississippi State Department of Health. Eighty-two related deaths were identified, and 129 hospitalizations were recorded.

To date, Lincoln County has reported 8,283 cases and 156 deaths.

Mississippi has now recorded 793,103 total cases of the coronavirus and 12,288 deaths. Of these totals, 436,026 cases and 8,097 deaths are confirmed.

Numbers are now being updated on a weekly, rather than daily, basis.

Cases for other area counties:

  • Amite — 3,238 cases; 68 deaths
  • Copiah — 7,107 cases; 117 deaths
  • Franklin — 1,923 cases; 38 deaths
  • Jefferson — 1,469 cases; 37 deaths
  • Lawrence — 3,575 cases; 56 deaths
  • Pike — 9,657 cases; 187 deaths
  • Walthall — 3,593 cases; 79 deaths

Issaquena County has the fewest reported cases and deaths, at XX and 9, respectively. Hinds County has reported the highest number of deaths, at 781. Harrison County has recorded the highest number of cases — 53,415.
