For 30 years, the men’s group of First United Methodist Church in Brookhaven have worked on missions and ministry projects and served up fried catfish plates to help pay for it all.

Today, 3:30-6:30 p.m., anyone who has already purchased a $10 ticket can get their plate in the church parking lot drive-thru pickup line. A very limited number of plates will be available for those without pre-purchased tickets, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Past projects have included such efforts as sponsoring local troops of Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America, supporting the Mississippi Scholars program, giving to missionaries, helping Servants in Faith and Technology — an international community development organization, giving to the American Legion and Methodist Children’s Homes of Mississippi, and participation in various mission trips.

Enter the church parking lot from West Cherokee Street to pick up plates. Donations to the program are also accepted.
