Honoring the Heroes cornhole tourney, golf ball drop is Saturday

The third annual Cornhole Tournament Honoring the Heroes is tomorrow at the Lincoln Civic Center.

Sponsored by Warriors of the Badge, the event raises funds to help the non-profit’s goal of providing funds to injured first responders and families of first responders killed in the line of duty.

The beanbag-tossing competition is 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Registration for the Competitive & Recreational Division begins at 10 a.m. and bags fly at 10:45 a.m. Cost is $50 per team — payouts are $150 for first place and $75 for second.

“Just for fun” groups can play for $10 per team, with no payout.

Bring your children for the Kids Arena, filled with jump houses and games, all for $20 per family.

A car show will take place in the parking lot. Registration is $15 per car and awards will be presented to the top five.

Bring your motorcycle and participate in bike games for $15.

Music will be provided by Strut Daddy’s Party Mix and DJ Jerry Smith. Concessions will be available.

“We’ll also have pulled pork plates, for $10 each,” said Vicki Moak, founder of Warriors of the Badge. “They come with pulled pork, dirty rice, beans and a water.”

A Helicopter Golf Ball Drop will top it all off. The helicopter will drop 250 numbered golf balls on the target area. Balls are $10 each, and the ball that ends up closest to the hole wins $250 cash.
