Residents of the Brown Loop area may soon have access to city sewer services.

The City of Brookhaven will host a meeting Tuesday, April 12, at 5:30 p.m. at the Brookhaven Building, 1154 Beltline Drive, to discuss acquiring a grant for that purpose.

Surveys from property owners must be obtained in order to apply for a Community Development Block Grant, which will allow the city to install sewer in the Brown’s Loop area.

“I am elated to start the planning and development of the Brown Loop area, utilizing the Community Development Block Grant to provide sewer, water and street improvements which this area deserves,” Ward 1 Alderman James Magee Jr. said. “I’m asking all residents of the Brown Loop area to attend — including other residents of Ward 1 — to address their issues or concerns involving their ward’s improvements.”

“It is imperative that we collect the information for the surveys, so we ask that you please attend if at all possible,” City Clerk Samantha Melancon said in a letter mailed to residents of Brown Loop NE. “If you are unable to attend, please contact our office to obtain the survey.”

City Clerk Melancon’s office can be reached by calling 601-833-2362. Alderman Magee can be reached at 601-201-1787.
