Property owner to City Board — Fix my wall

At the Brookhaven Board of Aldermen’s recent meeting, Broad Street property owner Sandra Mitchell shared photos of long-term water damage to her property caused by runoff from city streets. With confirmation from Public Works Director Keith Lewis, Mitchell explained she had “three rivers” coming into her yard, washing it out and damaging her driveway, as well.
“I have already spent $15,000 to fix this,” Mitchell said.
A brick wall on the front of her property has been damaged by the excessive runoff and will cost $2,000 to repair, she said. She asked the Board to approve payment to have the wall fixed.
“Everything else I have suggested has worked,” Mitchell said. “This will work, too.”
Mayor Joe Cox asked Mitchell if the board could have some time to look at the issue and proposed solutions and get back to her.
“Give you three or four weeks? Yes, I will,” Mitchell said.
