COVID deaths continue to drop in Mississippi

The number of COVID-related deaths in Mississippi has continued to drop in recent days.

Three new coronavirus-related deaths were reported March 27-April 2 in Mississippi, and 211 new cases were reported Thursday by the State Department of Health.

There have been 8,304 positive cases of COVID-19 reported in Lincoln County to-date and 156 deaths.

Mississippi has recorded 795,824 cases since the beginning of the pandemic and 12,413 related deaths. Of the cases, 437,343 are confirmed by positive PCR tests (55 percent) and 358,481 are probable cases, determined by symptoms or other positive tests.

Of the deaths, 8,178 are confirmed (66 percent) and 4,235 are probable. The probable deaths are those who have a designation of COVID-19 as a cause of death on a death certificate, but no confirmatory testing was performed.
