Funeral service for Mr. James R. Hemby will be 11 a.m., Monday, May 9, 2022, at Harmony Baptist Church, with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Mr. Hemby, 83, of Brookhaven, passed from this life May 4, 2022, at Silver Cross Nursing Home. He was born in Simpson County, February 5, 1939. He served his country in the United States National Guard and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. Mr. Hemby was a faithful and loving husband, father, and grandfather, he will be greatly missed by all.

He is preceded in death by his parents, WJ Hemby and Willie Bell Hemby; brother, JR Hemby (wife Ouida); and sister, Virginia Davis.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Fannie Mae Hemby; son, Phillip Ray Hemby (Donna); daughters Virginia Grubb (Skip) and Melissa Barrios (Frank); five grandchildren, Matthew Jackson (Katie), David Hedgepeth (Megan), Brittany Ashley (Jarrad), Tara Pepper, and Tanner Hemby (Isabel) and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of other loving family members and friends, as well as his faith family at Harmony.
