Skies will be cloudy through mid-morning, then gradually clearing, with a high near 85. Winds will be from the west at 5-10 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent, with accumulation of 1/10 to 1/4 inch.

Tonight will be mostly clear with a low around 62. A west wind of 5 mph will become calm.

Saturday, May 7

7:30 a.m. litter cleanup. Volunteers will meet at A.L. Lott Sportsplex to pick up litter in the community. Bags and grabbers will be provided.

Exchange Club Mothers Day Market will be 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. with free booth spaces (park at your booth). Free train rides for children. Welcome craft arts, vendors, farmers market and garage sales. Divide Memorial Methodist Protestant Church will host Springfest 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. The church is located 11 miles south of Monticello off Hwy. 27. This will be a full day of fun and fellowship with vendor booths, entertainment, a food court, a bake sale, an auction, door prizes, children’s activities and more! Warriors of the Badge ask citizens to show support for law enforcement during National Police Week by displaying blue porch lights, balloons or bows, or blue line flags during the week.

Monday, May 16

The Lincoln County Board of Supervisors will meet at 9 a.m. in the County Board Room of The Lincoln County/Brookhaven Governmental Complex.

The Lincoln County School Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Central Office.

Tuesday, May 17

The Brookhaven Board of Aldermen will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the City Boardroom of The Lincoln County/Brookhaven Governmental Complex. Meetings are streamed live on the city’s Facebook page.

Saturday, May 21

The annual family reunion of the descendants of Emmit Johnston Sr., Mary Jane (Mamie) Wells Johnston and Lillie Dillon Johnston will be at Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church. The church is on Hwy. 98 midway between Summit and Bude. Catfish luncheon will be served at noon. Bring a dessert or side and enjoy the fellowship. All relatives and friends are invited.
