A Ruth man has been charged with attempted murder after assaulting a man with a handgun.

Thomas Lambert, of 3671 Primitive Drive SE, had an apparent disagreement with Crawford Martin Saturday night, at Martin’s home on Mallalieu Road, according to Lincoln County Chief Deputy Johnny Hall Jr.

When the argument escalated, Lambert left and returned with a handgun. He then allegedly shot Martin, wounding him in one arm.

Martin was transported to King’s Daughters Medical Center, where he was treated and released. Lambert, 44, was arrested at approximately 10 p.m. and charged with kidnapping and attempted murder.

Lambert remains in Lincoln County Jail, and the matter is still under investigation, Hall said.
