Enterprise alum Gartman transferring to MS State baseball

Enterprise alum and former Daily Leader All-Area MVP Landon Gartman made his mark in 2022 as a pitcher for the University of Memphis baseball team.

Gartman was a unanimous selection for the American Athletic All-Conference team and was named 2022 AAC Newcomer Pitcher of the Year.

He went a team best 7-1 on the mound and tied for most wins in the AAC, while finishing second in the league in strikeouts with 94 over 86 innings.
Mississippi State fans will now hope for Gartman to have that same type of success next season while wearing maroon and white as last week it was announced that the talented right-hander is transferring to play next season for the Bulldogs.

After graduating from Enterprise, Gartman spent two seasons pitching at Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, where he won a shelf full of awards, including NJCAA DII Pitcher of the Year.

He made 13 starts this season for a Memphis club that finished 26-29 overall.

One of those appearances for Gartman was a 10-4 loss to his future team on March 29.

And though Mississippi State got the win that night, they didn’t get anything off the arm of Gartman. He threw four innings and gave up no hits, while striking out four and walking two batters.

A lifelong MSU fan and the son of Brady and Shannon Gartman, he’s the first major piece in a roster rebuild at Mississippi State.

Coach Chris Lemonis and the Bulldogs finished 26-30 in 2022 and missed the SEC Tournament a year after winning the first national championship in school history.
