Lincoln Library has laptops to lend

Published 11:00 am Saturday, June 11, 2022

The Lincoln-Lawrence-Franklin Public Library’s laptop loaning program is now available to adult patrons who are registered for full library privileges. A $40 cash deposit may be required. Juvenile patrons who are registered for full library privileges may borrow a laptop if the adult who authorized the registration is also present at checkout.

The adult borrower must provide a current State of Mississippi ID, an active personal e-mail account and an active personal text-enabled number. The library has fines and penalties for damage, missing parts and late returns.

The equipment was obtained by the library via funding from the federal Emergency Connectivity Fund. Any ECF supported equipment and services can only be provided to patrons who declare they do not otherwise have access to equipment or services sufficient to access the internet.

Laptops can be used to check email, access online accounts, write documents, complete homework, look for jobs, etc. Documents and other information must be saved to an external storage device or to cloud-based storage. Once powered off, the laptops will delete all non-default information and documents.
