Troopers work 3 wrecks on I-55 Friday, Saturday

Mississippi Highway Patrol troopers worked three one-vehicle wrecks on Interstate 55 in Lincoln County Friday and Saturday.

At 5:03 a.m. Friday, troopers responded to the only one of the three with injuries, near mile marker 39 on the northbound side of I-55.

Saturday, neither accident resulted in injuries. The first was at 7:30 a.m. north of exit 40. The second was at 7:22 p.m. at mile marker 24.

The 2022 Independence Day Holiday Travel Period enforcement concludes Tuesday, July 5, at midnight. Troopers will conduct high-visibility enforcement activities to promote safe travel and reduce fatal crashes over the holiday period. Troopers will focus on speeding, distracted drivers and impaired driving while using safety checkpoints to monitor seatbelt usage and to remove impaired drivers from the roadways.
