JACKSON — National Weather Service in Jackson issued a significant heat advisory for the rest of this week Wednesday morning. According to the report, Brookhaven has an elevated risk of heat stress. 

Temperatures could be as high as the mid 90’s with heat indices 106 to 110 degrees. Heat exhaustion is more likely with prolonged outdoor activity. The heat advisory is from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. through Saturday. 

Tips to beat the heat include staying hydrated, avoiding strenuous outdoor activities and taking frequent breaks if working outdoors.

Forecasts predict a chance of scattered showers for Southwest Mississippi today and Brookhaven has a strong chance of rain Wednesday.
