Emergency crews and CenterPoint Energy crews are working to shut off a broken gas valve near the Whitworth Avenue and West Congress Street intersection.

A grass cutting crew struck an old railroad gas line valve late Monday morning, breaking it, according to BFD Chief Jeff Ainsworth.

Brookhaven Fire Department, Police Department and Lincoln County Emergency Management responded to calls reporting the accident.
