A limited risk of increasing heat stress exists today and Tuesday for Lincoln County and across South Mississippi.

For Monday, a 20 percent chance of showers exists until 1 p.m., with thunderstorms possible until 2 p.m. Skies are mostly sunny with a high near 93, though heat index values may reach 103 degrees.

Monday night will be mostly clear with a low around 73.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast for Tuesday afternoon, mainly from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. Skies will be mostly sunny with a high near 93 and a heat index as high as 102. Tuesday night’s low will be around 73.

The chance of showers and thunderstorms climbs to 60 percent for Wednesday, primarily after 1 p.m. Partly sunny skies will see a high near 89, becoming a low of 71. Precipitation chances drop to 30 percent overnight.

Temps and chances of rain and storms remain much the same for Thursday, dropping to 30 percent for Friday and Saturday. Chances rise again to 40 percent on Sunday.
