Brookstock is back, baby.

The local music festival that begin more than two decades ago as a reunion for Brookhaven High School’s Class of 1968 will rock on at the Brookhaven Building. The party begins at 6 p.m. and will continue until players get tired of playing and listeners get tired of listening.

Back in ’68, as groups gathered to reminisce over their glory days in high school, band members would reunite with music. Over time, the yearly event became more public. One of the band members eventually coined the name “Brookstock” for the annual reunion, and it stuck.

Local artist and musician Don Jacobs organized the event every year through 2020. A stoke in early 2021 caused him to miss that year’s concerts, and musician Tyler Bridge stepped up to help. As organizer again this year, Bridge said he is really looking forward to the annual tradition.

“People love it and have fun every year. We have people as far away as California coming to perform, and people about that far coming to attend,” he said. “We want to make it worth their trip.”

This year’s lineup — in no particular order — includes local favorites and regular Brookstock entertainers The Bridge Band, Ricky Brown, Mike J. Case and Four Way Stop, as well as one of the bands that started it all — The Laughter of Ruin. Laughter features Bryan Batson, Ed Tree and Danny Dickey.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. for the $10 concert. Concessions will be available.
