Funeral service for Mrs. Elaine Hilton Goodson will be 10 a.m., Saturday, September 24, 2022, at New Hope Baptist Church in Meadville, MS, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 p.m., Friday, September 23, at New Hope and will resume Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Mrs. Goodson, 84, of Meadville, passed from this life Tuesday, September 20, 2022, in St. Dominic’s Medical Center in Jackson, MS. She was born in Lincoln County, MS, August 6, 1938, to Darsie Lee Hilton and Jessie Lee Boyte Hilton. She was the Chief Financial Officer for Franklin County School District for many years.

Mrs. Goodson was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and served in the Women’s Mission organization as well as being the church treasurer. She was also in the Woman’s Club. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was blessed to have seen not only great grandchildren but to welcome one great-great-grandchild. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, June Swinney; and her son-in- law, Lynn Wactor.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 66 years, Walter Philip Goodson; children, Debra Lane Wactor, Denver Philip Goodson (Hattie), and Mary Beth Goodson; sisters, Carol Cothern and Barbara Graves; five grandchildren, Ashley Yelverton (Lee), Melissa Morris (Seth), Hunter Hornbeak (Erin), Stacy Coker (Lewis), and Amy Peterson (Timmy); six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by other loving family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 4915 New Hope Road, Meadville, MS 39653.
