Absentee voting almost over for Nov. 8 election

Published 5:00 pm Friday, October 28, 2022

Just a few more days remain to vote absentee prior to the November General Election.

While there are some limitations on who can vote absentee in Mississippi, several factors will allow a person to do so. Any qualified voter can vote absentee if: he or she will be away from his or her county of residence on election day for any reason; he or she has a physical disability that will prevent them from being able to vote without substantial hardship (or their caregiver); work will prevent him or her from voting during polling hours; or they are age 65 and older.

Absentee voting can be done in the office of the county Circuit Clerk, 301 South First St., Brookhaven, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., and from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Oct. 29, and Saturday, Nov. 5. No absentee voting can be done after noon Nov. 5.

Mail-out absentee voting is open to voters who are temporarily outside of the county (for work or school), overseas, in the military, over the age of 65, and temporarily or permanently physically disabled. Email absentee voting is only available to those who are in the military or overseas.

Tuesday, Nov. 8, is General Election/Special Election Day. Polling places will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Lincoln County has 30 polling precincts. A map of precincts is available online at www.DustinBairfield.com. Any voter who is unsure where to vote should contact Circuit Clerk Bairfield’s office at 601-835-3435.
