Music will be provided by “The Lincoln Outfit” and there will be food and drinks from more than 16 area restaurants and vendors. The Taste of the Trust features tastings and a silent auction.

Tickets can be purchased from any Trust member or at the Chamber of Commerce downtown. Advance tickets are $40 and tickets at the door are $45.

The Brookhaven Trust is an organization dedicated to preserving Brookhaven’s heritage and improving its downtown. It was founded in 1991 to save the Mary Jane Lampton Auditorium on the old Whitworth College Campus, now the Mississippi School of the Arts. Repairing the auditorium’s roof was their first major project, and they have continued working on historical properties since then.

“The Trust’s mission is to preserve the historic sites in Brookhaven, specifically downtown,” Trust member Emily Bellipanni said. “The goal is and has always been to help local businesses, entities and property owners shoulder the financial burden of maintaining historical properties while also spotlighting the arts community in our town. There is so much local talent here, and we try to play a small role in highlighting it.”

Funds from the fundraiser are used to preserve the historic properties in Brookhaven, to promote the arts and to improve downtown. In 2016, the Brookhaven Trust worked together with the Chamber of Commerce and local business owners to put up rooftop lighting downtown. Since then it has partnered with multiple businesses downtown to improve the façades of individual buildings.

It has donated money for improvements in the Lincoln County Historical and Genealogical Museum, Mississippi School of the Arts, The Haven, The Exchange Club and directly to several businesses through its façade program.
