Weather Update: Brookhaven sees snow flurries, temperatures remain frigid as power continues to be restored

BROOKHAVEN — If you were up at the crack of dawn this morning you might have noticed some light snow flurries as Lincoln County took a polar plunge last night. Temperatures will warm up to a high of 26 before dropping down to a low of 14, these temperatures are before wind chill.

The wind is holding strong with a NW wind a 10-to-15 mph. Gusts could be as high as 25 mph so be careful when traveling in high profile vehicles. Remember to dress warmly.

Saturday is forecast to be sunny with a high of 34. It will be a North Northwest wind blowing at about 5mph with gusts as high as 20mph. The low Saturday night is 19.

Southwest is reporting two customers in Lincoln, Six in Copiah, 330 in Franklin Counties are without power. Entergy is making progress on outages in Lincoln County. The number of customers without power this morning in Brookhaven was around 1,200 and Entergy has brought the number down to 512. Entergy also reports 12 customers without power in Copiah County and seven in Franklin County.
