BROOKHAVEN — Wind, rain, thunder and lightning might have woken you up this morning as Friday starts out dreary. NWS Jackson issued a flash flooding advisory earlier this week but added a new weather advisory this morning.

Isolated severe storms producing damaging winds, flooding rain and possible tornadoes pose a risk to Lincoln County and the southern half of Southwest Mississippi. This threat is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Flash flooding remains a possibility as one to three inches of rain could fall in a short amount of time inundating low lying areas, small creeks, bayous and ditches.

Severe storms are likely to return next Monday and Tuesday according to the NWS. The Jackson office warns severe storms and tornadoes could be possible but the storm is still a few days away. Stay tuned and weather alert as the new year approaches for an updated weather forecast.
