Brookhaven musician Avery Joyce Landrum recently had the opportunity to open for blues legend Buddy Guy.

Guy, 86, is a native of Lettsworth, Louisiana, west across the Mississippi River from Angola, and roughly 120 miles west-southwest from Brookhaven. Landrum, 20, originally hails from the same small town.

Guy was the headliner at The Rock House in Innis, Louisiana, on March 1, and Landrum was invited to be the opening act.
