IRS Assistance Center open Saturday in Jackson

The IRS Jackson Taxpayer Assistance Center will be open Saturday, March 11, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.at 100 W Capital St.

The special opening is part of the IRS’s efforts to improve service this tax season. During the opening, taxpayers can receive face-to-face help from IRS employees without an appointment.

Normally, these centers are open during the week and appointments are needed. But walk-ins will be accepted for all routine services March 11, except for cash payments.

Tax return preparation is not a service provided by the IRS Taxpayer Assistance Centers.

For questions about a tax bill, an IRS audit, or a tax problem that needs resolution, employees who specialize in those services will provide assistance. IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service employees may also be available to help with some issues.

Come prepared

Individuals should bring the following documents:

  • Current government-issued photo ID
  • Social Security cards or ITINs for themselves and household members, if applicable
  • Any IRS letters or notices received and related documents
  • Two forms of ID and, if filed, a copy of the tax return for the year in question
  • Proof of bank account information included on a return for direct deposit may also be required.
