Storms forecast for this weekend

BROOKHAVEN — National Weather Service in Jackson issued a forecast of severe weather this weekend. The storms are likely to reach Southwest Mississippi Sunday but the weather is still several days out.

Sunday morning and afternoon are the likely timing of this storm. NWS Jackson is not able to publish any further forecast of how bad the severe weather will be as changes to the forecast are likely.

Friday has a 50 percent chance of showers before 1 p.m. and will be cloudy before gradually becoming mostly sunny. The high will be 69 with a wind speeds of 10 mph out of the North. Friday night will be mostly cloudy early in the evening and the low is 50.

Rain will likely return Sunday with a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy skies and a high of 83 are in store. Winds could be between 15 to 20 mph Sunday with gusts as high as 30 mph. Sunday night the low will drop to around 49.
