Blue alert for man who shot Trooper in north Mississippi

A man wanted in connection with the Tuesday morning shooting of an officer is at large.

Stanley Self Jr. is believed to have shot a Mississippi Highway Patrol trooper in the arm at approximately 7:05 a.m. on US Hwy. 61 in Bolivar County. The trooper received non-life threatening injuries.

Self, age 23 or 24, is believed to be armed and dangerous. He is described as a black male, 5-feet 9-inches tall, 165 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing khaki pants and a white t-shirt.

Self may be on foot or in an unknown vehicle, traveling in an unknown direction.

Anyone who sees Self or has any information is cautioned not to approach him, but to call 911 or the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation at 855-642-5378.
