The Exchange Club of Brookhaven has announced its scholarship winners for 2023. Each of the six students will receive $500 to help with their college education.

Ella Catherine Brown, Brookhaven Academy

Brown is an outstanding student athlete. She graduated with a 4.0 grade point average while participating in basketball, track, tennis and cheerleading. She volunteered at the Brookhaven Little Theatre, with sports management, as a Junior Auxiliary Crown Club Ambassador, and with several other organizations and clubs. Her goal is to be a doctor. She is the daughter of Lacey Allen.

Sarah Todd Adcock, Brookhaven High

Adcock graduated with highest honors. She also participated in cheerleading and tennis. She has volunteered with Reading Across America, LeBelles, Junior Ambassador Crown Club, a back-to-school backpack drive, and other activities. Her plans are to become a nurse, with a main goal of becoming a nurse practitioner. She is the daughter of Todd and Jennifer Adcock.

Kassidi Lauren Watts, Bogue Chitto

Watts was a member of the Beta Club, ACT Wall of Fame, a Mississippi Scholar, and a member of the cheerleading squad, dance team, tennis and basketball teams. She was on the Yearbook Staff and has been on two mission trips with her church. She plans to attend Southwest Mississippi Community College. Her parents are Ryan and Kristi Watts.

Katie Lynn Adams, Enterprise

Adams was a member of the Student Council, Future Business Leaders of America, National Beta Club and Diamond Dolls. She served as treasurer of the Junior Class, secretary of the Senior Class and vice president of FBLA. She plans to attend a local community college and study business, with the ultimate goal of becoming a business teacher. Her parents are Kenneth and Melissa Adams.

Alyssa Su-Anne Leggett, Loyd Star

Leggett graduated with a 4.0 GPA while participating in basketball and softball. She was Beta Club president, Student Council president, and Class president. She was selected Homecoming Queen in 2022. Besides a great educational record, she has been on mission trips, helped with Pee Wee basketball and kindergarten graduation. She has volunteered with the Mississippi Scholars Awards ceremony, the Lincoln Civic Center Baseball Complex, and Heritage Hills Orphan Ministry. She plans to attend Southwest Mississippi Community College and become a dermatologist. She is the daughter of Scott and Denise Leggett.

Kara Beth Addison,

West Lincoln

Addison was a star basketball player and a 4.0 GPA student, which caught the eye of several college coaches. In addition to basketball, she was president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a member of the National Beta Club, member of Mu Alpha Theta, and HOBY Leadership participant. She was selected Miss Basketball for 2023 by The Daily Leader. She has been a leader around the school helping with fundraisers, food drives and concession sales. She plans to attend Southwest Mississippi Community College and then Pearl River Community College to become a physical therapy assistant. She is the daughter of Elder Luke and Robyn Addison.
