BROOKHAVEN — All-Area Girls basketball coach Ron Kessler is the new Brookhaven Academy athletic director replacing Anthony Hart who left to go to Lafayette County. Brookhaven Academy published a statement from Kessler Wednesday morning.

“I am extremely honored and blessed to be moving into the role of Athletic Director here at Brookhaven Academy. Sports and working with young people is an extreme passion of mine,” Kessler wrote “It is my goal to help provide all our student-athletes here at BA with a very competitive environment with each of their teams, but more importantly a Christ-like atmosphere for our student-athletes to endure daily. Having coaches in place to mentor our athletes the right way, God’s way, is extremely important to me.”

Kessler’s promotion is just one of many changes at Brookhaven Academy. Reggie Lea was re-hired as the new football coach this April nearly 25 years after his last year coaching the Cougars in 1998. Mississippi State University quarterback Tyler Russell was hired as an assistant football coach at Brookhaven Academy this spring.
