Highway Patrol recruiting for next trooper class

The Mississippi Highway Patrol recently added 48 new troopers to its numbers, and has called for applications to Cadet Class 68.

Cadet Class 68 will begin January 2024 and last approximately 17 weeks, with training conducted in Pearl at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers’ Training Academy. This class will be the seventh patrol school conducted since 2018.

“With the recent graduation of Cadet Class 67, it’s an honor to officially announce the next patrol school that will begin in January 2024,” said Commissioner Sean Tindell. “Joining the Mississippi Highway Patrol is an excellent opportunity for those seeking to further their career in law enforcement. We are committed to protecting our state and excited to get Cadet Class 68 started!”

Minimum qualifications for the cadet class are:

  • Must be at least 21 years old and have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Mississippi at the time of appointment
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

Applications are available at Troop sub-stations statewide, including Troop M substation on Hwy. 84 in Brookhaven, and at MHP Headquarters, 1900 East Woodrow Wilson Ave., Jackson.
