BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County School District celebrated a ribbon cutting and open house Tuesday prior to their monthly school board meeting. The celebration rings in a new central office.
Linbrook Business Park is the home for the school district’s central office. The new central office located at 702 Saints Trail Northwest allows for the Superintendent’s Office, 16th Section, Business, Child Nutrition, Career and Technical, Federal Programs, Special Services, Technology and Transportation to all be under one roof.
Lincoln County School District additionally earned the Lighthouse School Leader Beacon Award for being an “A” rated school district, all schools being rated a “C” or higher and the district being in good standing with the Mississippi Department of Education Office of Accreditation. Superintendent David Martin was pleased with the celebratory week.
“I think it went really well and our move went well. Our employees made it go as smoothly as possible. We could have our normal stuff going on too. We appreciate your support,” Martin said. “For the Lighthouse Beacon Award, thank you to our principals, teachers and kids. We are proud of their efforts.
The new central office is spectacular. Office spaces are all the same size. Bogue Chitto fans may celebrate that the carpet has a nice blue pattern to it. Lincoln County School District is pretty much moved in but still has some things to move out of storage to the new building.
Martin reported the Agriculture building projects remain underway. Contractors have had challenges getting materials. He said the hope is those projects will be finished in the summertime before August and the return of school.
Loyd Star’s gym floor replacement project should get started next week. The one caveat for the project is it needs to be finished in time for graduation in May. Martin said if the floor is not finished the school would simply cover the floor.
