Anyone who owes a Brookhaven City Court fine from before 2022 now has a chance to pay it off at a greatly discounted rate.

This week, the Board of Aldermen approved an amnesty period for any delinquent court fine assessed prior to 2022. A fine can be paid off by providing one half of the owed amount, from March 6 until April 30.

The 60-day amnesty period includes the stipulation that the full discounted rate must be paid. If a person owes $250, their discounted rate would be $125, and that amount would have to be paid in full during the amnesty period. Half of the original owed fine must be paid in order for the fine to be considered paid in full.
