Katie Sproles, of Brookhaven, has been awarded a $10,000 Live Mas Scholarship from Taco Bell.

A rising senior at The University of Southern Mississippi, Katie applied for the scholarship with a two-minute video submission about a passion within her community — her baking business that she began in high school and continues to operate.

n addition to the scholarship, Sproles will travel to San Diego in July for a scholars conference. She was one of only seven people in Mississippi and 455 nationwide to win a scholarship, from the 11,477 who applied.

Sproles is the daughter of Tommy and JoAnn Sproles.
