Two Brookhaven men have pleaded guilty in cases involving methamphetamine in Lincoln County.
On Tuesday, Aug. 6, Joe Kenyon Mobley pleaded guilty in Lincoln County Circuit Court to possession of methamphetamine. The case arose from a traffic stop in Lincoln County on April 11. Mobley, of 1865 Toy Drive, then led Sheriff’s Office deputies on a multi-county chase that concluded with Mobley’s arrest and possession charge.
Circuit Judge David Strong sentenced the 42-year-old Mobley to 20 years in prison, with the first 10 years to serve day-for-day in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
Also on Tuesday in the Circuit Court, 40-year-old Abe Glenn Blue Jr., of 610 South Washington St., pleaded guilty to trafficking more than 40 dosage units of methamphetamine, with the intent to distribute. Judge Strong sentenced Blue to 30 years, to serve the first 18 years day-for-day in the custody of MDOC.
“I would like to thank the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office for all the hard work they did to get this poison off of our streets,” said District Attorney Brendon Adams. “These drugs are brought into our community and these drug dealers don’t care whose hands it ends up in — adults or children. There is, and will always be, a direct connection between narcotics and other crimes. By helping to take illegal drugs off the street, we also help curb other crimes.”
These cases were prosecuted by Assistant DAs Steven Waldrup and Joey Norton.
“For those that feel as though they can come into our community and set up a criminal enterprise, they are wrong,” Adams said. “I will work tirelessly to make sure we are creating a hostile work environment for them, where they will be held accountable for their actions.”
