SUMMIT — Pike County Sheriff Wally Jones issued an “urgent,” statement on Facebook that there is an active situation in Summit this afternoon. The Enterprise Journal reported two Summit officers were injured in an incident Thursday.

It is not immediately clear what happened but The Daily Leader is working to confirm reports and will provide updates as they become available.

“All citizens are asked to avoid the area and allow law enforcement to resolve the situation,” Jones said in his statement. “More information will be forthcoming as the situation transpires. More to follow.”

The Daily Leader reached out to Mississippi Highway Troop M and Lincoln County Sheriff Office to see if they are assisting with the incident.

Summit Police Department issued a statement online that court is canceled today and all cases will be rescheduled for a later date.
