MT. ZION — A long line of Mississippi Highway Patrolmen, Lincoln County Sheriff Deputies and a vehicle transporting the body of fallen officer Troy Floyd drove up I-55 north to Jackson Thursday afternoon. Firefighters and first responders in Lincoln County parked on bridges over the interstate to pay their respects as the convoy drove north.

Floyd was killed in the line of duty in Summit. Pike County Coroner David Taylor said Floyd was on duty with the Summit Police Department when he was shot and killed.

“It is still under investigation,” Taylor said. “We have his family and law enforcement in our hearts and in our prayers. Especially for his family.”
