A Lawrence County man has been arrested and charged in a Sunday shooting.

On Aug. 4, at approximately 12:05 a.m., Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Lawrence County hospital regarding a shooting victim. A female had reportedly been struck multiple times by gunfire.

The victim had been transported to the hospital by Victor Charles Smith, 38, who described the victim as his fiancée.

Smith was arrested there for an outstanding warrant in a separate matter. After an extensive investigation, Smith has been charged with aggravated domestic violence and attempted kidnapping, said Sheriff Ryan Everett.

The victim is recovering.
