A Thursday afternoon shooting has resulted in the death of one officer, the wounding of another, and the death of the suspect.

Summit Police Department officer Troy Floyd, who ran for Lincoln County Sheriff in 2023, was the officer killed, according to McComb news outlet The Enterprise-Journal.

McComb Police officer Joey Roberts was wounded.

The suspect was also killed, according to reports.

Officer Roberts was wounded in one leg and was unable to return fire.

It is unknown what led to the confrontation, which occurred near a grocery store on Hwy. 51, one block from Summit’s Robb Street.

The shooting is under investigation by agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI).
