September is National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month. It has also been recognized as “National Recovery Month” by Brookhaven Mayor Joe C. Cox.

A free event will take place at the Brookhaven Building on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. to help unlock healing and recovery through meaningful connections.

Sponsored by Families United Training Center in Brookhaven, guest speakers are Dr. Von Wade, Advanced Implementation Specialist with the Opioid Response Network, and Laurie L. Johnson-Wade, CBC, CRS, RCPF, FPS, ARC, CRMT. Hear from healthcare professionals, recovery advocates, and individuals who will share their own experiences. Learn about the latest treatments and support systems, and access information and services from local organizations. Those interested can also earn continuing education units.
