Railroad Park welcomes back Fall Concert Series Friday, Sept. 13

The Brookhaven Fall Concert Series is returning to the Railroad Park Stage in historic downtown, with fresh faces and sounds, as well as familiar favorites.

For three Friday evenings, 7-9 p.m., a different group of musical artists will take command of the open-air waves to provide entertainment. For the second year, these free fall concerts are provided by the Brookhaven Tourism Council. The Council has sponsored a three-part Summer Concert Series since 2017.

The series begins on Sept. 13, with Symone French & The Trouille Troupe. Fronted by Mobile-born singer-songwriter French — a successful professional singer, and former contestant on The Voice and American Idol — the group has “a diverse stage show that mixes soul, heartache, and Southern fried sultry soulfulness,” according to her website.

Next up is returning favorite Aa’Keela & The Beats, on Oct. 18. The multiple-member Meridian-based group has quickly become a popular act in the area. The energetic cover band’s catalog includes a blend of funk, soul, R&B, jazz, rock and gospel.

The series will wrap up on Nov. 15 with Keys vs. Strings. Consisting of Topher Brown, of Wesson, and Marvin Curtis, of Byram, the duo began with a dueling piano show but evolved to include Brown’s skills on guitar, as well. Both of the men are or have been worship leaders, and present a family-oriented show.

All three concerts are outdoors and free to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, and enjoy beverages and food from nearby downtown restaurants.
