He was a member of the 2013 graduating class from Enterprise and was recently added to the school’s wall of fame.

Enterprise already suffered a great loss in September when sophomore Tyler Cothern was killed in a car accident

Travis Ham, a former teammate and classmate of Newman, wrote on Facebook that Newman is the third classmate he has lost this year. He said that Newman was someone who would never quit and was very inspirational.

Kristin Lambert-Elkins said her class were all very proud of Newman and described the loss as “heartbreaking.”

Newman came and spoke to the Enterprise football team in October. He played running back in college at Virginia University-Lynchburg and for the professional arena football team the Wyoming Mustangs.

He had overcome so much in his life. Newman was adopted at the age of 2 and his parents had died young. His mother was killed in a car accident and brain cancer took his father. In 2016, he lost his adopted mother as well.

Newman’s visitation will be Thursday, Dec 12 at William Mortuary from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. His funeral will be  Friday Dec. 13 at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Sontag.
