BROOKHAVEN — The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Lincoln County and other counties in Southwest Mississippi. The watch will expire at 3 pm Saturday.

Significant severe storms are likely today. NWS Jackson warns tornadoes are likely, some possibly strong and long tracked. Damaging wind gusts could reach 70 to 80 mph and large hail up to golf ball size could accompany the severe storms.

Lincoln County can expect severe storms to move through the area between 7 pm to 11 pm but an early line of thunderstorms will move through between now and 4 pm.
